JO BERRY HOSTS WORLD PEACE MARCH EVENT

Transforming the Brighton Bomb
Building Bridges for Peace

DUKE OF YORK’S PICTUREHOUSE
BRIGHTON, UK
Sunday 1.30pm, 18 October 2009
Tickets: £7.20 Concessions: £6.20

When Sir Anthony Berry MP was killed in the IRA Brighton Bombing during the 1984 Tory Party Conference, his daughter Jo was thrown into a conflict she knew very little about.

Determined to make sense of why her father was murdered she travelled to Ireland many times meeting victims and combatants from all sides.

When she heard in 2000 that Pat Magee, the man responsible for her father's death, was to be released from prison as part of the Good Friday Peace Agreement she decided she wanted to meet him. (click here to read Jo's description of the meeting)

An event which changed her life and resulted in a documentary, Facing the Enemy, being made about her for UK TV. (Read about Jo's meeting with Pat here)

Since then she and Pat have worked together for peace and spoken at many events throughout the world.

The event in Brighton is the launch of WFAC Supporter Jo's charity 'Building Bridges for Peace'

It will feature a screening of 'Soldiers of Peace' (watch preview here) a heart warming documentary featuring both Jo and Pat as well as Sir Bob Geldof, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and others.

Following the screening there will be a discussion with Jo and Pat.

Everyone can attend and Women for a Change supporters are invited to join co-founder Christine Crowstaff and WFAC support Jo at a more informal get-together afterwards.

If you’re unable to get to see the film in Brighton, you can purchase it here – and WFAC gets a contribution for each film sold!

Also you can watch Jo and Chris talking about their lives, in Inspiring Women: Facing tragedy, Creating peace, a short video made earlier this year.
